Located in the beautiful Lockyer Valley, just over an hour from Brisbane. We produce Lucerne hay, Lucerne/Reclaimer Rhodes grass hay, and sometimes millet or other cereal hays. We bale into small squares, and round bales in both 4x4 and 4x3. Visitors are welcome to make an appointment to view our hay at the farm, completely obligation free. You can also join our "Lucerne Lovers Club" to receive direct email updates when we bale.

ABOUT OUR ORGANIC FARM
The name Old Mill Organic Farm comes from the old windmill that was on my parent's farm when I was young. It's a beautiful Southern Cross mill that was actually on that property long before my parents purchased it in 1959. We moved it down from my childhood property at the head of the creek, to our current property at Upper Tenthill in 2023, where it proudly stands spinning away like it has done for all those years.

This year we will be growing certified organic lucerne and millet, both for hay. Our very fertile soils provide a very nutritious product. Our water, sourced from the underground aquifer fed by Tenthill Creek, originates in the Main Range National Park at the head of the creek and is of excellent quality and in most seasons, is in plentiful supply. No chemicals are used at any stage in the growing or storage of our hay.
ABOUT US - Roy & Trudy Townson
We have had over 40 years as hay customers ourselves, for our own competition horses, so we have a good idea of what you are looking for.
Years ago we both completed a 3 year course at the (then) Queensland Agricultural College gaining an Associate Diploma in Rural Techniques, specialising in Grazing Animal Husbandry. Since then Trude has worked in the Landcare and Organic Industries, while Roy worked for a large beef cattle Pastoral Company and then ran his own educational resources business.
For the last 8 years we have been involved in a joint business with another local, long term, certified organic farm growing organic vegetables. In early 2024 we retired from that joint business to concentrate on producing organic hay on our farm here at Upper Tenthill.
